How I Can Support You
At the heart of my work is the belief that no one should face the end of life feeling unsupported or alone.
I offer support for individuals and families through conversations, planning, rituals, and emotional comfort – always guided by your wishes and values. Whether you need practical guidance, help creating meaningful memories, or simply someone to sit quietly beside you, my aim is to bring calm, clarity, and comfort to this time.
-
I gently guide and support conversations around end-of-life wishes, values, and care preferences – before, during, and to be implemented after death.
-
I can help you explore and clarify your wishes and steer you toward the right professionals for completing important documents like Advance Care Directives, emotional wills, legacy projects, and funeral planning paperwork.
-
Together, we might create personal rituals using music, candles, or meditation. I can also assist in writing a life story, recording meaningful messages, or crafting legacy items for loved ones.
-
I may use calming techniques like visualisation, guided imagery, essential oils, flower essences, gentle massage, or simply holding a hand – always guided by what brings comfort and peace.
-
I can support families to stay updated (sometimes by helping set up an app) so everyone can share updates, plan visits, and feel included.
I can help coordinate family and friends to visit in ways that support connection without overwhelm, honouring the individual’s needs for closeness or quiet.
-
I work with you to organise practical support for the primary caregiver – like setting up a care roster with family, friends or community members for tasks such as sitting with the individual, pet care, meals, cleaning, or gardening.
-
I can help bridge communication between the individual and their healthcare or support teams, ensuring that evolving needs are understood and everyone feels supported.
-
Whether at home, in hospital, hospice or aged care, I aim to nurture a sense of peace, dignity, and presence – adapting to your environment and what matters to you.
-
I can assist in preparing for and being present during vigil moments, whether before, during or after death, honouring the unique energy and rhythm of the time.
-
I provide compassionate emotional support throughout the journey and help connect individuals or families with specialist grief and bereavement services when needed.
-
I help individuals and families explore how they would like to be honoured – whether that’s a quiet garden farewell, a home ceremony, a living wake, or something else entirely.
-
I offer ideas and support around how loved ones can stay close – such as through stories, touch, reading poetry, simply being there, holding their hand or even lying beside the person when appropriate.
-
I walk beside you to help make the experience of dying feel less hidden and more natural – something we can meet with presence, courage, and love.
Clarity Around My Role
My role is supportive, not medical or legal – here’s what that means.
-
While I can help you gather the right information and connect you with professionals, I don’t give medical or legal advice or perform any medical procedures.
-
I don’t provide tasks like giving medicine, injections, or any other medical treatments.
-
I don’t do tasks like showering, shopping, cooking, or administering medication.
-
Every family has its own dynamic, and while I offer support and compassion to everyone involved and advocate for (the person facing end of life), I don’t mediate or attempt to resolve longstanding conflicts.
-
I gently support you and your family in making your own informed choices with clarity and confidence.
-
Death, like life, is unpredictable and unique. I do offer presence, compassion, and will always endeavour to do best I can to what you would want them to be.
